Royal Butler warns against putting sunglasses on your head

With a heatwave hitting the UK, we’re quickly gathering up all our summer essentials.

We’ve got our SPF, shorts and sun hats ready – and of course sunglasses, because they’re a summer staple.

Protecting your eyes from the sun should be on your priority list, but when you take them off, have you ever wondered what you’re supposed to be doing with them?

Wonder no more because Grant Harrold, aka The royal butlerhas come to save the day and tell you exactly what to do with your sunglasses once you’ve taken them off your face.

Grant is a former royal family butler, as his name suggests, and his Instagram is full of tips and tricks on how to behave appropriately in all situations.

In a recent clip, he explains the correct etiquette for wearing sunglasses – and what to do when you take them off.

Grant explains: “Ladies and gentlemen, when you take off your sunglasses, you either put them in your pocket – or in your shirt.

“What we never do, we don’t put them up here, after all they’re sunglasses, not tiaras.”

During the video, he demonstrates how to store sunglasses when not on the face, and as he puts them on, he gives the camera a hilariously raised eyebrow.

A few followers were quick to point out that women often don’t wear shirts or blazers with front pockets.

Someone commented, “A bag or a shirt aren’t very lady-friendly options as girls often don’t have bags and the sunglasses lower my cleavage more than I’d like.”

“And sunglasses are great for holding my hair back. So I’ll keep sinning, I’m afraid.”

However, one user has come up with an alternative to turn it on its head.

They wrote: “Love your channel! Now whenever I enter a building, I take off my sunglasses and put them in my purse instead of on my head.”

Others left hilarious comments claiming to be a princess so they wanted to wear her sunglass tiara.

One said: “My sunglasses are my tiara – thank you!”

“I admit I use them as a tiara,” added another.

“But my mom used to call me princess?” one joked, followed by a puzzled face.
