Gogglebox: Tom Malone reveals strange rule families follow

Gogglebox star Tom Malone Jr has revealed that there is a strange rule that families must follow if they want to stay on the Channel 4 show.

Tom rose to fame as part of the much-loved Malone family from Manchester – who are known for their epic snacks on television – in 2014.

The 27-year-old reality TV star turned professional dancer has revealed he’s quitting the show in 2021 after six years on the sofa.

Although the rest of his family including dad Tom Sr, mother Julie and brother Shaun are still Gogglebox regulars.

But he still lets fans know about Gogglebox’s secrets in the ‘ask me anything’ Q&A on his Instagram stories.

Tom was asked by one of his 321,000 followers, “Do you keep in touch with anyone from Gogglebox other than your family?”

He replied: “So the weird thing with Gogglebox is, if you’re on the show, you’re not allowed to meet anyone else who’s on the show – unless it’s like an award show that you are invited to join .

“But I still talk to a few people on social media and I still talk to all the crew and everything – and sometimes see my parents.”

Another fan said “How many random people ask you how Dave’s dog is?!”

Dave is one of the Rottweilers of the Malone family, who frequently filmed scenes as they starred in Gogglebox.

Tom said: “Honestly, there were quite a few people who stopped me. Is crazy. ”

Dancer – who is currently on the new E4 reality show Really dirty dancing – added: “It really is Dave’s world and we live in it.”

Tom announced he was leaving Gogglebox last February – just a day before the new series aired.

Revealing the news on social media, he shared a snap of himself jokingly holding a cardboard sign that reads: “Back to the market. Contact me for any TV productions “.

He captioned the post: “So after 6 and a half years, it’s finally time to put the remote down and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

“I loved every minute of it and am eternally grateful to @channel4 and @studiolambert for allowing me to be on the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.”

He continued: “I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about saying something stupid. [laughing emoji]”.

Since leaving the show, Tom has established himself as an off-screen choreographer and even stepped into the world of TikTok videos.

The dance sensation is also a member of a professional dance team and has performed his dance moves alongside the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Rita Ora and Wiley.
