The original singer of the track Never Enough from The Greatest Showman is among the acts to take the stage in the first installment of the new Britain’s Got Talent series.
Oren Allred, 32, of Brooklyn, New York, revealed during her audition on the show that she was the voice behind the hit song from the 2018 musical film, which judge Simon Cowell has admitted is a huge fan.
The ITV series returns on Saturday for the first time since it was canceled in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Before the episode aired, Cowell revealed that the producers of America’s Got Talent were “angry” that the UK version had landed Allred and not them.
He added, “I love this type of competition.”
Viewers will also see a man dressed as a robot named Titan singing Cry Me A River with theatrical water features and dance troupe Les Sancho adding a unique twist to their performance.
Meanwhile, 13-year-old Jamie Leahey, who has been learning ventriloquism during lockdown, also takes the stage with his chicken puppet named Cluck.
Father-of-two Nick Edwards is also surprised when his three- and four-year-old daughters are brought on stage by their grandmother to persuade him to audition.
