The Handmaid’s Tale will return for the sixth and final season

“The Handmaid’s Tale” has been a favorite with audiences and critics since its debut in 2017, winning 15 Emmy Awards including Outstanding Drama Series for its first season. The show was created by Bruce Miller (“ER,” “Eureka,” “The 100”), who is also developing “The Testaments.” The entire cast has been rightly commended for their performances throughout the series, namely Elisabeth Moss, Bradley Whitford, Yvonne Strahovski, Max Minghella, OT Fagbenle, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, and Madeline Brewer. The series’ regular Alexis Bledel also took home an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series but left the show after season 4.

The impact of “The Handmaid’s Tale” on popular culture has been immense, with the traditional white beanies (aka “wings”) and red capes becoming memorable protest symbols against the with many activists trying to stop our current world from getting a little too close to Gilead’s practices. Here’s hoping that “The Handmaid’s Tale” will continue to exist as a work of fiction long after the series ends.

Season 5 of “The Handmaid’s Tale” will premiere its penultimate season with two seasons premiering on September 14, 2022, on Hulu only. The Handmaid’s Tale will return for the sixth and final season
