The head of Cage The Elephant, Matt Shultz, was arrested in New York on charges of possession of a loaded weapon.

The singer, 39, was taken into custody after police discovered a weapon in a room at the Bowery Hotel in lower Manhattan.

Officials from the New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to a 911 call around 10 a.m. Thursday following a report of a person in possession of a weapon.

“Police were at the site and following investigation, they received a search warrant and recovered two loaded firearms from a room at the site,” an NYPD spokesman said in a statement. announced to the PA news agency.
