APPLE added tons of new features in the latest iOS 15 update – but are you using any of them?
We’ve rounded up some of the best new iPhone tricks you need to try today.
They were introduced with the release of iOS 15, the latest major update to the iPhone operating system.
You can update iOS by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Anyone with an iPhone 6S or later can download iOS 15.
In a recent post to her 1.1 million followers, user @roxanna.roxi highlighted new features added to Safari, iMessage, and other apps earlier this year.
Roxanna showed a Safari trick that makes it easier to see all your open tabs on multiple devices.
Open the iOS app and tap the “tab” button at the bottom right. The icon looks like two squares on top of each other.
Safari will then show you all your tabs as a list of pages that you can search for. Just tap one to open it, or tap the cross on the top right to close it.
The list syncs across all your Apple devices, meaning you can see the open tabs on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad in one place.
Among other must-have tips, Roxanna revealed a way to save time when you download photos.
She explains that there’s an easy method to move multiple photos at once – instead of dragging them individually.
Just touch and hold an image on the Photos app or in Google images, then tap a bunch of other photos you want to move.
You can then easily move them as a group to another new folder or location of your choice.
Roxanna also demonstrated a new iOS 15 feature called Photo Collections.
Effectively, whenever you send multiple photos to a mate on iMessage, they’ll group together on the chat screen.
You can scroll through the photos by swiping left or right on the gallery.
Previously, groups of photos appeared individually in the chat screen, making your message thread a bit messy.
Real-world text scanning
The TikTok star also introduced Live Text, which lets you point your iPhone’s camera at a real-world object and quickly copy and paste text on it to your phone.
It can help you jot down notes on a whiteboard at the end of a meeting or class at school, or transcribe handwritten notes of a family recipe.
It works through the camera app and uses high-tech artificial intelligence to recognize and scan text in a variety of lighting conditions.
To use this tool, grab an object with the text you want to scan and open the Camera app on your iPhone.
Point the camera at the subject, then tap the indicator that appears at the bottom right of your screen. It looks like lines of text surrounded by a box.
When you touch it, the text will pop out on your screen and you are given the option to copy, select, look up, translate or share it.
For instance, you can copy and paste it into an email or Note, or share it with your friends via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
You can also use Live Text on photos already in your photo library.
Just open a photo in the gallery app and tap and hold a piece of text in the photo to select and highlight it.
