Travelers will do their best to get the perfect selfie while traveling – including handing over their expensive phone to strangers and taking pictures with wildlife.

A study of 2,000 adults traveling abroad found that nearly 1 in 10 of those taking photos even went so far as to stand on a cliff to get the perfect shot.

Others have paid extra for luggage so they can get more “props” or more outfits, eat food they don’t really like, or miss a train or bus.

More than half (51%) can’t imagine not taking a photo on vacation, with 21% considering taking selfies while traveling a “must”.

And the typical adult will take a selfie 14 photos a day while on vacation – uploading 7 photos a week to social media.

A spokeswoman for telecommunications company Virgin Media O2, which commissioned the research, said: “After nearly two years of travel disruption by Covid, things are looking brighter for those holidaying in the near future. this year.

“Whether booking a city break this spring or going to the beach this summer, our social feed is set up to be full of seas, sunsets and ski slopes throughout the year.

“The ease and convenience of roaming in the EU means customers can connect on holiday without worrying about roaming charges.”

The study also found that natural vistas, glorious sunsets, and posing on the beach were more favorable ways for travelers to take selfies.

Of those who take pictures, 77% do so simply as a souvenir – but 17% want to impress their social media followers.

And 43% plan to post great vacation photos online – with 36% posting more photos of their holiday activities than they do at home.

But posting photos online while on vacation can come with problems due to lack of WiFi access (30%), concerns about being charged additional data (25%), and running out of mobile data. (22%).

It also shows that when they use their phone abroad, taking pictures (47%) is the top priority, followed by getting directions (33%), checking personal emails (28%) and planning plan for day trips (22%).

A Virgin Media O2 spokesperson added: “Capturing memories and sharing holiday moments seems to be an integral part of ‘holiday’ in today’s social media world and we We know that staying connected while away is important to our customers.”
