The HSE is issuing a warning for certain Aroma King e-cigarettes, advising the public not to use them

The public is being urged by the HSE to stop using certain e-cigarettes from the Aroma King range of disposable electronic cigarettes that do not comply with EU tobacco legislation.

They are also urging retailers to stop selling these products.

The HSE’s National Tobacco Control Office has submitted RAPEX alerts to Safety Gate (the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products) after it was found that the products contained more than the permitted level of nicotine (20mg/ml or 2nd level). piece) included.

Approximately 46 Aroma King disposable e-cigarettes across the ranges and flavors were sampled and analyzed by the HSE and found to have a nicotine concentration in excess of the nicotine limit.

The permissible value is 20 mg/ml, but the products analyzed had values ​​up to 50.4 mg/ml.

The declared nicotine concentration on the packaging indicates a nicotine concentration of 20mg/ml or 2pc nicotine.

The HSE has contacted all major Irish distributors of e-cigarettes and refill containers that they know of and are in the process of contacting known retailers of these products.

dr Maurice Mulcahy, Regional Chief Environmental Health Officer at the HSE, said: “As a precautionary measure, our message to the public is to check your e-cigarette product against the list of products affected by this alert.

“If you have any of these products, we want you to stop using them and return them to the store where you bought them.

“If you have already used it and are feeling unwell then your GP should be the first point of contact.

“We are asking retailers to stop selling the products listed below and to contact us with full supplier traceability details. If retailers have sold or distributed any of the products listed below, we would like them to recall them by posting a recall notice prominently in their retail stores and on their website.”
