JAMES Buckley has disappointed die-hard fans of The Inbetwearies after it was revealed there was “not enough money in the world” to make him play Jay Cartwright again.
Those who remember the clumsy years of their youth can relive those painful days watching The Inbetwearies – and its characters will be forever remembered.
Most memorable of all, certainly, Jay Cartwright – a sex addict known for his potty mouth and wild lies.
On Friday morning, James – the actor who plays the lovable big-mouthed guy – was a guest on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X.
Immediately after the show, Chris asked him if he would consider reprising the role of Jay in the hit Channel 4 comedy.
The host asked: “If the writers of The Inbetwearies said ‘we have a new script’ – that’s basically what everyone was up to now – would you like to see it? Would you say yes? “
Despite recalling his time on the series as “the best job in the world,” James adamantly replied, “No.”
Moyles teasingly asks: “You don’t even want to read it?”
Bringing the conversation to bed, Buckley explains: “It’s not because I don’t think I’m going to have a great time doing it, because I know I will.
“It’s the best job in the world, but it can be – you know, as I get older – it seems like it might be the only job I do professionally that people love.
“There’s not enough money in the world for me to screw that up.”
All three seasons of The Inbetwearies are available to watch on All 4.
