The influencer’s dream car, which comes with its own DRONE for taking selfies while driving, is set to launch in the UK

A CAR equipped with its own DRONE flying alongside driver’s selfies arrives in the UK.

The dream engine will allow owners to take the “ultimate” selfie thanks to the drone of the Swedish-made Polestar O₂.

The autonomous drone can even be launched from behind electric car when driving at a speed of up to 56 km/h.

Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar, stated: “Integrating an autonomous cinema drone was something that allowed us to push the boundaries on the innovation front.”

The drone is hidden in a panel behind the rear window.

When the driver wants to launch it, a push of a button opens a panel at the back and the launch ramp extends to the rear of the car.

To enable take off, engineers have developed a special airfoil that rises to create the right conditions for the drone to take off.

The driver can even choose how they want to be filmed, with both atmospheric and action-packed sequences available.

It can then fly over the vehicle “to record the perfect driving sequence”.

Once filming is complete, the drone returns to “base” before being hidden back in its secret compartment.

The driver can then stop and edit the recorded film before posting it directly to social media from the comfort of their car.

LIFT UP

Named after the chemical formula for oxygen, the car is being developed in the UK for production from around 2025 onwards.

A team of 280 specialist automotive engineers based in Coventry and North Warwickshire will work on the engine.

However, it has not yet been decided whether the drone accessories will make it to the final series model.

Polestar said: “In a world increasingly driven by social media, the Polestar O₂ features an autonomous cinematic drone integrated behind the rear seats.”
