The Kardashians’ new series has been branded as “aggressively boring” in scathing reviews from US television critics.
The highly anticipated show was heavily promoted by sisters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian along with mother Kris Jenner and younger siblings Kendall and Kylie Jenner, but failed to make a lasting impression on viewers.
The Hulu reality show, simply titled “The Kardashians,” is slated to release on April 14, and fans are eagerly awaiting the latest episodes in the stars’ lives after they’ve been off TV screens since June of last year were to be seen.
The KarJenners announced in 2020 that they were ending their iconic reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians after more than 20 seasons and 14 years on the air.
The famous family has signed a massive new deal with Hulu and teased details about what viewers can expect when the new show premieres, but TV critics across the pond are already disappointed in their efforts.
In a scathing shot, Daniel D’Addario from diversity said the show is “being held back” because it’s “obsessed with the past.”
He said the new show had “little” new information or gossip about the KarJenners and complained that Kim’s performance on the new show was “muted.”
The outlet’s chief TV critic suggested the billionaire beauty and fashion mogul might be “outgrowing” the reality TV genre, saying he could sense “panic” from the show as they tried to build drama.
Lovia Gyarkye out The Hollywood Reporter had a similarly scathing take on the first two episodes of the new reality show, saying it was a “disappointment” with a lack of “shock value.”
Labeling it “aggressively” boring, she said the show felt like an “experiment in marketing, selling viewers an unattainable aesthetic and lifestyle,” and complained that the family constantly flaunted their “staggering wealth.”
The family members have been ramping up the publicity around their new show ahead of its premiere, with Kim and Kourtney making the rounds on US television to entice fans to tune in and watch their revamped reality series.
