A confusing set of Covid rules around vaccines, tests and travel forms remain in place for most of the countries popular with British tourists, although all regulations have been relaxed at home

Brits heading abroad for their first summer holiday in three years will face a bewildering array of Covid rules in the countries they visit.

If traveler numbers return to pre-pandemic levels, we will spend £63bn on international travel this year as 18m of us head to Spain, 10m to France and 5m to Italy.

However, each country has its own rules for vaccinations, testing and filling out Covid forms. In many countries, the validity of the vaccine expires after 270 days (nine months), although in Israel the period is 180 days.

In Switzerland, you must take a test between the fourth and seventh day after arrival, even if you are fully bitten.

The rules for children are also different, so check them. And check the Foreign Office website for the latest information before you travel.

Spain

  • Two jabs with the second within 270 days of travel
  • OR proof of the booster
  • OR Proof that you have had Covid within the last 180 days
