The long-awaited sequel to Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been delayed and is now due out in 2023. This is what Nintendo says, which released a short video this morning explaining the situation and the new start time.
The first breath of the wild was introduced with the Nintendo Switch in 2017 and received critical acclaim. However, the much-anticipated sequel to the initial Switch offering is being delayed to give the team even more time to live up to the release’s incredible hype.
Originally slated for release this year, producer Eiji Aonuma announced in today’s video that the sequel wouldn’t hit shelves until Spring 2023. The team is trying to create something “special,” according to Aonuma, and is asking fans to wait a while.”
“We have decided to stretch our development a bit and push the release to Spring 2023. In order to make the gaming experience special, the whole development team is working diligently on this game, so please wait a while.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild The sequel will take players to Hyrule as we now know it and the sky. The short video narrates this and shows Link doing a halo jump from a great height and Link holding up what appears to be a massively damaged Master Sword. What that means will no doubt be revealed over time, but unfortunately fans will have to wait a little longer to find out more.
