THE London to Brighton bike ride is set to go ahead despite many events being postponed following the Queen’s death.
The bike ride organizers made the decision to hold the annual event to support their charity partners.
In a brief statement, a spokesman for the bike ride said: “In line with recently released national mourning guidelines, we would like to confirm that this Sunday’s London to Brighton bike ride will go ahead as planned.
“We have a great responsibility both to our charities who depend on the significant amount of funds raised and to you, the participants, who have trained so hard for the day and are doing so for your own personal reasons.
“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the Royal Family and all those around the world who are mourning the loss of Her Majesty.”
The upcoming bike ride comes as other events have been canceled due to the national period of mourning.
Sports games, including Brighton and Hove Albion’s Premier League game against AFC Bournemouth, have been postponed.
Other Brighton events such as next weekend’s Pub in The Park and the TUC Conference are also not taking place.
