The popular horror franchise Evil Dead is finally getting its fifth installment in 2023, but news about Evil Dead Rise has been scarce. Thankfully, fans of the series have been rewarded with a teaser trailer that has just been released, along with information that the first full trailer will be released on January 4th, 2022.
Evil Dead Rise is the fifth official installment in the Evil Dead series, with the last film being Evil Dead (2013), which was a soft reboot of the franchise. The film follows sisters Ellie and Beth who, along with Ellie’s children, are forced to face off against the Deadites and a terrible book at Ellie’s apartment building.
However, the Evil Dead franchise is undoubtedly best known for its protagonist, the chainsaw-wielding Ash Williams, played by Bruce Campbell throughout the series. Things aren’t looking good for those hoping Ash will return for the fifth film, as Campbell took to Twitter to confirm he won’t be appearing on screen in the film.
However, the actor reiterates what was previously reported that he is in fact a producer of Evil Dead Rise and had his share in the entire film.
Evil Dead Rise was originally slated for HBO Max but will now be released exclusively for theaters after Warner Bros. Discovery decided not to focus on HBO Max-only releases. The release of the fifth part of Evil Dead is currently scheduled for April 21, 2023. More news may appear tomorrow along with the new trailer.
