FREQUENT FLYERS know that passengers are always the first to step off the plane – and people are in the back long before they can actually depart.
But one lucky passenger has revealed why it’s good to be last off a plane.
Reddit user u/aylzb visited the community sharing site to explain what happened to her when she was the last to disembark.
She shared a photo of her sitting in the cockpit of a plane, which the pilots let her board when she was only person left on board.
She wrote: “I was the last one off the plane. I asked if I could take a picture of the cockpit and the pilots invited me to sit on the seat and take my picture!
“I was so happy I cried afterwards lol.”
The post received 4,300 upvotes and a plethora of comments from pilots, encouraging other passengers to ask if they’d like to be in the driver’s seat.
One wrote: “Not just for children! I’ve always been happy about interested people in the cockpit.”
Another wrote: “We are all more than happy when someone comes in and checks things out as you exit the plane. Just do it! We always have a minute or two.”
A third added: “It’s a fun office and most crews (time permitting) are happy to show off.”
It’s not just the chance to get a glimpse of the cockpit that makes sitting in the back of the plane a good idea.
Experienced traveler John Burfitt said that booking a Seat at the back of the plane is the secret of a stress-free flight.
He explained that if you book the window seat on the last row of an airplane, next to the restrooms, your trip can be as peaceful as possible.
Although some worry that the queues and ensuing smells might make the journey unbearable, John insists that this is actually the most relaxing place to sit, as there is no one sitting behind you, so your seat won’t get kicked or shaken.
A former flight attendant revealed it best seat in economy – and guarantees you extra space and your food choices.
And a frequent flyer has found the best seat to book in economy class when catching a flight a long-haul flight.
