On March 24th, as part of Patch 2.3, the War Table will be in Marvel’s Avengers will be reworked to streamline missions and improve overall user experience.
The onboarding process for newer players is also getting an overhaul, and that includes bringing back Nick Fury as a guide for the Helicarrier.
One of the first big changes you’ll notice when interacting with the War Table on March 24th is that missions will no longer change every 15 minutes. Instead, Drop Zones and Threat Sectors will appear on the War Table at all times, and HIVES will appear once you’ve reached a power level comparable to the range of the region it’s in.
Each region now has a minimum power level and a suggested maximum power level, and if you continue at the suggested maximum power level you will travel from region to region with increasing power.
Villain Sectors are now also visible on the Wartable, so you don’t have to fetch the mission chain from faction mission givers. Normal Villain Sectors mission chains rotate daily and are picked up as normal, and Elite Villain Sectors rotate weekly.
Vaults are now always visible on the War Table, and Elite Vaults rotate weekly.
Individual hero HARM rooms have a minimum power level of 1, and Challenges IV become part of the priority HARM rotation and are no longer visible upon completion.
With the update, Flashback missions that ended in a boss fight have been replaced with Wasteland and Wakanda threat sectors. This means that no Flashback mission will end with a boss fight in the villain sector. Rise and Shine requires you to complete a mission in Quickmatch, and Heroic Mission Chains, formerly known as Iconic Mission Chains, only appear per hero.
The Crystal Dynamics team will also be adding new missions to the War Table on March 24th, including a new vault and a new rogue sector.
Nick Fury’s return to the Helicarrier will see him replacing JARVIS and Maria Hill’s narration at the start of the Avengers Initiative during new tutorial videos and in some missions. While this is mostly for new players, existing players can go through this process with Nick Fury to catch up.
And finally, with patch 2.3, the team is making changes to bring clarity and properly explain the systems, missions, and how to begin your journey in the Avengers Initiative. According to the developers, the series of quests or mission chains leading players to multiple mission types proved confusing due to the minimal guidance.
