WHATSAPP is packed with great features – but the disappearing text is one of the best.
If you haven’t learned how to use Disappearance Notifications, it’s time to learn how it works.
When we send people messages, it seems like a great idea at the moment.
But in the tens of thousands of texts, there will be some you may regret.
If you’re concerned about certain messages being left on other people’s phones, you need to learn about Disappearing Messages.
WhatsApp allows you to manually cancel texts at certain intervals.
But WhatsApp also has a feature that will automatically delete the text after a certain amount of time has passed.
Of course, the system is not anti-trick.
If someone takes a screenshot or records your chat, there is no way to remove that content from their phone using the official WhatsApp feature.
As always, the best way to keep embarrassing or unfortunate content on the internet is not to post it in the first place.
But if you’re particularly nervous, using Disappearing Messages is a great system to use.
Remember: only messages sent after you enable Disappearing Messages will be deleted. It won’t go back in time and erase your old mistakes for you.
Contents will also not be deleted in other chats to which they have been forwarded.
And Disappearing Messages will still be stored in the recipient’s backup – but will be deleted when that user restores from the backup.
Quoting a message can also cause text to remain in the conversation, even if the original message has been deleted.
How to activate WhatsApp Messages Disappear
Open your app on mobile, then go to Settings > Accounts > Privacy.
Find Disappearing Messages and then set the switch to the On position.
Then, choose how long it takes for the message to disappear – 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.
A message will appear in the chat confirming that Disappearing Messages has been enabled.
To enable this feature on an existing chat, you need to first archive and then unarchive.
You can also enable Disappearing Messages on specific chats by tapping on a WhatsApp contact’s individual settings.
