The most popular phone of the past 22 years revealed – and it’s NOT an iPhone

The most popular phone since millennium has been revealed and many will be shocked to learn it is NOT an iPhone.

Despite the massive success of Apple’s handsets since 2007, not one of these models has been able to topple the behemoth that preceded it.

In fact, the majority of the top five were released at a young age.

2014’s iPhone 6/6+ reached 222.40 million handsets sold, making it Apple’s most successful smartphone.

But that only puts it in second place.

The number one phone has been revealed as the most loved Nokia 1100.

The device boasts Snake and a built-in flashlight, which has been sold an astonishing 250 million times between 2003 and 2009.

According to data compiled by Mobiles.co.uk, another Nokia flagship also ranks in third place.

The iconic Nokia 3310 has been used by 136 million people since 2004.

Meanwhile, Motorola Razr V3 has won the hearts of 130 million people since 2000.

Apple broke into the top 5 with the iPhone 5C/5S in 2013, reaching 76.6 million units.

Other iPhone models and Samsung Galaxy devices also made the top 10.

Perhaps surprisingly, there is no place among the most successful selling handsets for Blackberry.

Experts say that the phone that came out first has the advantage of selling for a longer time, unlike today when the tech giants roll out new models quite often.

Kyle Wilson, mobility specialist at Mobiles.co.uk.

“While Samsung and Apple are now well-known names in the smartphone market, there’s no denying that Nokia’s early handsets will remain iconic for certain generations.

“Without a doubt, the likes of the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy are at the top of wish lists these days; the popularity of these Nokia handsets cannot be underestimated.

“With nearly a fifth of mobile phone owners having 1100 or 3310 in the respective years they were released, this is an impressive feat second to none in 2021.”
