The next-gen update for Witcher 3 has severe performance issues on PC

THE Witcher 3 next-gen update has just been released for modern consoles and PC, but the PC version is riddled with technical issues.

Originally released in 2015, The Witcher 3 consistently ranks high on lists of the greatest games of all time.

The update is free for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC players who owned the original version of the game.

Fans were thrilled to receive a modern update to the game, including visual upgrades and an all-new quest for Henry Cavill’s armor from the Netflix show.

While players on PlayStation and Xbox have not reported any particular issues with the update, things are different for PC players.

Even for gamers with high-end gaming PCs, the game suffers from a low framerate, frame drops, and missing or broken textures.

Memory leaks and crashes have also affected players’ experience, and it’s difficult to go back to the original version once it’s updated.

Communities have called the PC port “virtually unplayable” even when tried at lower resolutions.

Developer CD Projekt Red has stated that it is aware of the issues and is looking for a fix.

A tweet from the official Witcher account reads, “We are aware of the issues PC players have been reporting since the update was released last night.

“We are actively investigating all reports and will provide an update on specific issues as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!”

Fans have been patient with the fixes since the game came as a free update.

People were far less forgiving when CD Projekt’s other popular title, Cyberpunk 2077, launched in a broken state at full price.

However, PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam all offered customers a full refund of the game if they requested it.

The company is still investigating the issues and there is no current date for a patch release.

It seems PC gamers will have to wait a little longer before enjoying the next-gen experience.
