Last week surprising announcement of a new one surveillance 2 Beta, coming next month (and currently running for Blizzard employees and Overwatch League pros), is part of Blizzard’s series of spring announcements.

However, according to a new report from The Washington Post, sponsors may be reluctant to return their support to the tournament after last year’s refusal to sponsor it after lawsuits from Activision Blizzard, employee strikes and investigations that sparked widespread allegations Campaigns had been interrupted by hostile working conditions.
The Washington Post notes that the OWL currently has no listed sponsors, but also quotes Overwatch League head Sean Miller as saying the league is in active negotiations with various sponsors, both previous and new potential ones Sponsors aiming for a partnership could act. Some companies that suspended sponsorship over the past year, including Coca-Cola and Kellogg’s, have said they do not plan to continue sponsorship in 2022. Things may start slower with two years of paused in-person competitive play and an all-new 5v5 system to get used to, but teams can already get involved in the new beta.
Miller tells the post that one of the goals for the end of the season is to bring back some of the big in-person events, even featuring players from the three continents that the Overwatch League represents.
