After 25 years, protagonist Ash Ketchum finally fulfilled his dream of becoming the Pokémon World Champion in the final season of the Pokémon anime. Now that he’s reached the top of the mountain, the series gives the eternally young hero his last hurray before embarking on a new adventure with a new cast of characters.
The Pokémon Company announced that the final chapter of Ash and Pikachu will begin on January 13th (in Japan). It consists of 11 special episodes that serve as a grand farewell and celebrate the duo’s achievements. It also features some familiar faces from Ash’s past, including Misty and Brock.
Sometime later in the year, a new, yet-to-be-titled animated series will start, set in the Paldea region of Scarlet/Violet. The stars are two young coaches, Liko and Roy, who will be joined by the three starters of this region: Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. The trailer also teases the look of a shiny Rayquaza.
That’s it. If you spent your childhood following Ash’s exploits or followed him throughout his run, how does it feel to finally see the character get his flowers and ride off into the sunset? Are you excited to finally see a series with new heroes and storylines? Let us know in the comments!
