The preview of the new castle building shows how your vampire becomes the “dark overseer” in V Rising
Early Access is approaching for V risingand Stunlock Studios has a brand new devblog and trailer, this time with what to expect from building your castle in the vampire survival game.
One of the goals of the development team is for players to eventually feel their vampire characters what it’s like to be “a dark overseer, commanding the lesser to further their evil ends.” To get there, you must first wake up as a new vampire, then gain ground to establish yourself as powerful enough to build your castle and defend it while growing in strength and power.
When it comes to survival games and vampire mythology, the idea of a home is a big deal. Survival games focus on building shelters where you can stay safe and progress, grow and serve as a base to survive in a dangerous world. When it comes to vampire stories, a safe home is also central to a vampire’s existence and ongoing protection from the outside to avoid suspicion and possible destruction. The blended concept is closer than you might think.
Castles are progression bound so you don’t emerge as a new vampire with a palace waiting for you. However, you can start building once you build something called Castle Heart. This is made by blood magic and you must keep supplying blood to keep it up. If you do, your production and crafting will work to do what you need to build a bigger and stronger castle and power your adventures. When it comes to crafting or production, all you have to do is provide the resources and it will happen automatically while the blood still flows.
The castle heart also serves as a base for your defenses. Filling that up with blood makes it very difficult to breach your walls and saves you on repairs if someone attacks (unsuccessfully).
Once you start building a palace, you can customize everything with decorations, workshops, and anything that suits your particular style. With magic you can also hunt people down and bring them back to your castle, take things like a prisoner that will be there for you to feed on, make some servants or even serfs.
