Boris Johnson, speaking in Abu Dhabi, said talks on Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and other dual nationals in Iran were continuing but did not want to say more.
Boris Johnson said talks with Iran over the release of Anglo-Iranian Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe are “going into depth”.
However, the Prime Minister added that he could not say more because “negotiations (with Iran) continue to be conducted”.
When asked by TV stations at the Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi if a UK negotiating team is currently in the Iranian capital Tehran, the Prime Minister said: “It is true and we have been for a long time. are negotiating to issue dual citizenship in Tehran.
“There are some very sad cases, including Nazanin.
“I really don’t think I should say more, I’m sorry, although things are moving forward.
“I really shouldn’t say much more at the moment just because those talks are still underway and we’re on the right track.”
Ms. Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been detained in Iran for nearly six years after being arrested while taking her daughter to see her family. She is accused of plotting to overthrow the Iranian government, which she denies.
