The Queen has publicly congratulated her youngest son Prince Edward, who turned 58 today.
It comes just weeks after she failed to mark the birthday of one of her other sons – Prince Andrew as he turned a year old.
Today, the British Royal Family’s Twitter page posted a photo of Edward smiling with the caption: “Wishing the Earl of Wessex a very happy birthday!”.
It is accompanied by a birthday cake emoji.
Unlike his brother Andrew, Edward, along with his wife Sophie Wessex, are working members of the Royal Family and carry out engagements on behalf of the Queen.
Meanwhile, Andrew gave up public life in 2019 after his disastrous interview on BBC Newsnight where he talked about his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
And last month, he reached an out-of-court settlement with accuser Virginia Giuffre in a sex civil lawsuit filed in the US.
When he also turned 62 last month, there were no social media posts to mark his birthday.

And speaking on True Royal TV’s The Royal Beat, the Daily Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers said this could be Andrew’s way of positioning himself to return to public life.
He explains: “The language used in [settlement] announced that Prince Andrew would help sex trafficking victims. Is this you positioning yourself to try and renew yourself in the public eye?
“Talking to his friends this week – they say he still feels he has a lot to offer in public life again.
“I still believe he’s the only person on the planet who believes [apart from] maybe Fergie and maybe the Queen.”
But despite this, Russell said it was “impossible” to see how he might have a mass role in the future.
He added: “He is only 61 years old, but there is no telling what future he might have.
“His daughter Princess Eugenie founded and helped run a charity for victims of human trafficking.
“Perhaps he sees it as an avenue because maybe his family are the only ones who think they can help him at this stage.”
