Prince Harry raised eyebrows last week as he opened up about his “special relationship” with the Queen – but a royal insider said another grandchild is Her Majesty’s favourite.
The 37-year-old Duke of Sussex spoke about missing his family during an interview with US journalist Hoda Kotb during the Invictus Games, which aired on NBC News’ morning show on Wednesday.
Harry also managed to snub the Queen when he refused to say if he plans to return home for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Duke also made a number of bold claims during the show, as he discussed his “special relationship” with the monarch and claimed he “protects” his grandmother from those around her.
But a royal insider says Harry is wrong and Her Majesty’s favorite is actually another of her eight grandchildren.

The source said so Daily Mail : “No longer satisfied with claiming special status with his mother, he now seems to mythologize his relationship with his grandmother.
“Would she recognize that description? I very much doubt it.”
The source goes on to say the monarch is closest to Peter Phillips, 44, son of Princess Anne.

Peter is her “special” because she “admires” how he and sister Zara managed to be related to royals but without the titles.
Another insider said: “Like William and Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Peter and Zara were children from broken homes but were somehow more exposed due to Anne’s decision that they shouldn’t have titles.
“She thinks that Peter in particular has inherited the resilience that is so characteristic of Anne. She sees him as reliable.”
The Duke’s controversial comments came after he and Meghan Markle paid a rare secret visit to the UK.

He told Kotb: “Apart from those times, I haven’t had an opportunity to return to the UK for a couple of years, once for my grandfather’s funeral and once to unveil a statue of my mother.
“Being with her was great.
“It was great, it was really nice to see her in an element of privacy, which was nice.
“It was just so nice to see her… She’s in great shape. She always has a great sense of humor with me and I just make sure she’s protected and has the right people around.
“We have a very special relationship, we talk about things that she can’t talk about with anyone else.”

His comments about making sure she’s protected have raised eyebrows, with the Mirror’s royal editor claiming the comments were “offensive” and could have offended his family.
He said: “Prince Harry’s comments about the Queen being ‘protected’ are deeply damaging and offensive to his grandmother and senior royals around her.
“Prince Charles and Prince William, as senior family members, are doing everything they can to ensure the Queen and the monarchy are in good hands.
“Harry has chosen to give up his duty to make millions of dollars as a private individual, and yet he feels it is his job to meddle in family affairs while he lives on the other side of the world — and then to American ones.” to send media.”
He added: “Senior royals and aides will be holding their heads in their hands at Harry’s willingness to return to private family talks in another televised interview.”
