The Queen’s grandchildren will stand vigil around her coffin in London on Saturday, hours after their parents held an emotional vigil at the Palace of Westminster.
In particular, the Duke of Sussex will join his brother, the Prince of Wales, in uniform at Westminster Hall ahead of the Queen’s state funeral on Monday.
Harry, who served on the front lines during two deployments in Afghanistan, was previously denied the opportunity to wear his military uniform while he mourns publicly at not being a working royal anymore.
But royal sources say the king has decided his youngest son can wear a vigil uniform and said he will stand at the foot of the coffin, with William leading the way.
Despite being a former army officer, Harry was dressed in civilian clothes for official occasions, including walking behind his grandmother’s coffin on Wednesday when he was carried to Westminster Hall for being in state.
William will be flanked by his cousins Zara Tindall and Peter Philips, while Harry will be at the center of the coffin with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie with Lady Louise Windsor and her brother Viscount Severn.
On Friday night, the Queen’s children – Charles, the Duke of York, the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex – attended their own vigil.
The King, Anne, Andrew and Edward had serious expressions on their faces as they stood guard around their mother’s coffin, heads bowed as members of the public slowly walked past them.
