“How was that, Jenkins? Do you want to see it again?”

Almost 15 years after the game’s release, a scrapped scene from the introductory segment of the first Mass Effect was reconstructed by a devoted fan.
revealed about a post in the r/masseffect subreddit on January 20ththe scene was recreated by the user vegetable killer. While they couldn’t fully animate the character models, they had some unused dialogue bits related to the scene to work with.
In the cutscene, Shepard walks in while Corporal Jenkins hassles Kaiden into showing off his biotic abilities. Though Kaiden initially refuses, even tossing Jenkins a mug – which Shepard then has to catch and throw back – he eventually relents and uses his powers on Jenkins’ hand. This causes Jenkins to accidentally bump into Shepard, embarrassing him. Doctor Chakwas then reprimands Kaiden and Jenkins retreats further into the ship.
It’s a small scene, but also one that provides additional context for how the rest of the crew interacted prior to the events of the game. Fans can check out the reconstructed scene for themselves below.
The scene isn’t the first that vegzkiller has reconstructed and shared. Earlier this month, they revealed that there was a fully created scene of Mordin using biotic powers to guide the team through their suicide mission at the end of Mass Effect 2. This was scrapped after it was determined that Mordin would not be a biotic user, but was still fully accessible and recoverable in the game’s code.
