The Red Hot Chili Peppers pay tribute to their LA hometown at the Walk of Fame Star Ceremony

Members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers paid tribute to their hometown of Los Angeles when they were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ass player Flea said Hollywood Boulevard has “always been a part of me” and is grateful to now “be a part of it”.

The world-renowned rock band was honored Thursday at a ceremony hosted by funk musician George Clinton and actor Woody Harrelson.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers consist of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and lead guitarist John Frusciante.

In a brief speech, Kiedis praised his bandmates, saying the Chilis are “much greater than the sum of our parts”.

“To me, this isn’t a story of individuals … something happens when we come together that’s far greater than the individual parts, we’re far greater than the sum of our parts,” he said.

“We were able to find something we love to do and communicate with the whole world.

“We started out playing dive bars down this street and getting a handful of people dancing and alive, but over time we stuck together as a team and as a band and now we can make anyone dance and feel joy. ”

Flea said he “blundered” on Hollywood Boulevard by the age of 11 and knew the street “by heart.”

“I know this street inside and out, this street knows me,” he said.

“Whenever we travel around the world, this road has always been a part of me and I’m really grateful that we can be a part of it now.

“I love my bandmates… we have countless experiences down this road. Greetings to all.”

At the star’s unveiling, the bassist joked that the spot was the only part of Hollywood Boulevard that had “not been puked on.”

In his own speech, Smith thanked fans and paid tribute to “my brother” Taylor Hawkins following the death of the Foo Fighters drummer.

“He’s flying around, he’d love that and laugh and make a nice smartass comment about the whole thing. I love him,” he said.

During the ceremony, a marching band played a medley of the band’s hit songs, including Can’t Stop, By The Way, Snow (Hey Oh) and the recently released Black Summer.

Her new album Unlimited Love is slated for release on April 1st to coincide with her new radio channel on SiriusXM Whole Lotta Red Hot.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform next year as part of a 32-date stadium tour in Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Performances also take place in the USA, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, France and Canada

The star of the band is 2.717. on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It is dedicated to the Recorded category and is located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Amoeba Music.
