The residents of Haywards Heath were treated to a Wild West feast

The residents of CARE homes had the most “original” time when the essence of the Wild West came into the gardens of the home recently.

Residents and staff at the Goldbridge Bupa Care Home on Haywards Heath enjoyed a cowboy summer party with family and friends, complete with folk music performances, a range of interactive games, a raffle and a themed buffet.

Organized by Patricia Driver, Activities Coordinator, and Felicia Burghelea, Resident Experience Manager, 200 guests from across the community came together to enjoy a Western-themed afternoon in the nursing home gardens.

The Goldbridge team hosted folk band Bucklers Reel, where residents and guests enjoyed a medley of country music from decades past.

The performance was followed by a Wild West buffet provided by The Goldbridge’s kitchen team, featuring grilled delights, fresh salads, beers and ciders on tap, Pimms and ice cream.

Residents “quite thoroughly enjoyed” the events of the day.

Barbara Gorman, a resident of The Goldbridge, said: “I forced myself to tap my feet and the food was great.

“It was also nice to see all the games that were planned for the kids. All in all a complete success.”

Roommate Derek Kalyanvala said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event and really admired the efforts of the staff.

“I especially loved seeing them all dressed up as cowboys.”

And Mary Woolgar summed it up as a “wonderful bloom”!

“The entire team worked tirelessly to make our Cowboyfest a success,” said Ms. Burghelea.

“Our saloon style bar did a great job of ‘getting everyone in the whistle’ and it was great to see the kids having fun playing badminton and mini golf at the play stations.

“The games were also well received by residents, with ‘guess the rabbit’s name’ and ‘how many candies in the jar’ proving firm favourites.”
