During the cold winter months, the sky isn’t the only thing that’s gray, as a lot of our light skin is depleted. In other words, Dr. Maryam Zamani is an eye plastic surgeon and facial plastic surgeon – a skin specialist. Her premium skincare brand, MK Skin, combines science and beauty, so we asked her about harnessing both to combat winter dullness.
Q: My skin was very bright in summer but now it looks dull, what can I do?
A: It is normal for skin to lose its vitality after the summer sun and be cheerful. What can we do? Fall and winter are the perfect times to help reduce pigmentation, uneven skin tone and remove old skin. In-office treatments like BBL and MOXI can help reduce dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone while encouraging the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin. These treatments remove old skin and polish skin within a week for beautiful, radiant skin.
To maintain results, an at-home regimen using vitamin C, Retinols, and moisturizers is required. I recommend incorporating a winter skincare routine to include gentle exfoliation twice a week for beautiful skin, a serum-enhanced formula with antioxidants and skin-brightening agents (vitamin C). and E, azelaic acid, tranexamic acid). Layer serums or add moisturizers with different consistency to hydrate and maintain skin moisture (glycerine, squalene, hyaluronic acid, ceramides) and collagen-supporting ingredients (stem cells, peptides, collagen) , etc). Never forget SPF!
Q: I leave the house in the morning, skin is bright and radiant, but always seems to dry out as the day goes on, and feels flaky and dull in the afternoon. How do you always shine?
A: Skin prep is extremely important for incredibly healthy glowing skin. Ideally this is done in tandem with a good skin care routine. Skin looks dry and dull because it has lost moisture.
Skin care before makeup is very important. I recommend adding hyaluronic acid serums to your routine with large and small molecular weight HAs to provide deep hydration and help maintain surface hydration. I have two products that go well with makeup to refresh skin — Lift & Luster (280 €) can be added to makeup to restore dull skin. Squeeze a few drops into hands and then reapply onto face and skin and makeup looks instantly revitalized. I also have a lovely moisturizing mist that again instantly brightens skin while protecting it from the elements.
Q: Now that many of us are in the office and commuting, the time to get ready for the morning has narrowed. What is the best way to achieve light with limited time?
A: My life story! I recommend a light face wash in the morning, one of our super serums, Brighten & Perfect 10% Encapsulated Vitamin C (€325), eye cream, moisturizer and Tint & Protect tinted SPF (€325) 124), a bit of eyeshadow. Make up and a little bit of your favorite perfume. It’s my habit – it may not be enough for others.

Q: Does the formula for glowing skin change according to your skin type? How?
A: The principle is the same for all skin types: reveal, strengthen, protect. It’s essential to have a consistent skincare routine – it’s better to keep it simple so you can maintain it consistently.
The formula for a glow change is the same no matter your skin type: reveal, strengthen and protect
Q: What skin lightening ingredients should we pay attention to in cosmetics?
A: It’s important to look for formulas that work intelligently to improve skin.
Reveal beautiful skin with gentle exfoliation: AHAs are gentle on skin while gently exfoliating. If you are prone to breakouts, I recommend a BHA or a combination of the two.
Find ways to improve your skin with moisturizers – they’re vital to plump skin. Think hyaluronic acid, squalene, glycerine and of course, you need moisturizing ingredients like ceramides. Ingredients that boost collagen and elastin production make the skin thicker and therefore fuller. These types of ingredients include peptides, placenta stem cells, and retinol.
Skin lighteners like vitamin C and retinol are great. Vitamin C helps give the skin a bit of a super charged glow as it is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals, stimulates collagen and elastin production, and reduces pigmentation.
Protect skin with SPF and help reduce inflammation with topical ingredients and LED lights.

Q: What is your “luminous cup” product? Aka, the number one product/type of product that you recommend to people?
A: That’s a tough question. I think there needs to be a combination. But for a glamorous look, I recommend Glow Boost Ampoules (€202), which is a five-day set that revitalizes skin for a beautiful glow! And a lightweight or rich moisturizer to instantly plump and hydrate. For an immediate pick, I recommend the Hydra-Bright Gold Eye Mask (from €22) or if you really want to invest, the Lightmax 2.0 Supercharged LED Mask (€709).
Q: When it comes to glowing skin, is it all about what goes on in your skin or is there another aspect of what you consume?
A: Bright skin has many different factors, both external and internal. Lifestyle is extremely important — sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress levels as well as environmental influences such as smoking, alcohol and drugs. Skin care is also essential to help improve and maintain skin at any age. I take a holistic view when it comes to beauty and believe that the best habits are supported by a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Q: Are there any special facials or treatments that I can do at home for brighter skin?
A: Glow Boost Ampoules are the perfect 5-day treatment that can be easily combined with your at-home skin care regimen to boost radiance. Lightmax Supercharged LED Mask 2.0 is the best home LED light available to improve skin quality, boost collagen production and reduce inflammation. Absolutely the dream home treatment that continues to work every time it’s used!
Another favorite is the Germanium Tone & Lift Face Roller (77 €) – I love this treatment because it improves lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness and create a relaxing, facial contour. tension in the facial muscles and increase circulation. Best described as a hands-on combination of massage and exercise, it helps release tension (great for headaches and tight jaws) while leaving skin soft, radiant and healthy. look healthier instantly.
