“The service at Hove Town Hall is good in my opinion”

A LETTERS correspondent wrote last week about the lack of face-to-face contact with council officials at Hove Town Hall.

The reception at Hove Town Hall opened to the public ahead of May, albeit on a more limited scale than before the pandemic.

Given the many inquiries related to parking permits and the like, it makes sense that this has been moved to the Internet.

Blue Badges for true disabled people are now also handled online, along with Bus Pass perks.

Having visited Hove Town Hall myself in June and July I found the reception staff to be remarkably friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately while in the reception area I saw a male customer berate a new receptionist about a disabled ‘blue badge’. explained the young lady

that such matters would be dealt with online and referred him to the Council’s website.

Now there are certainly a few council departments that I’ve had trouble with, but barking at the reception staff isn’t going to help.

Please take a few deep breaths and ask for help, then listen to advice.

In my experience the front line staff at Hove Town Hall go out of their way to help customers.
