Naga Munchetty in an awkward clash with Jon Kay

BBC Breakfast Studios staged a tense controversy on Thursday as Naga Munchetty clash with Jon Kay live on the air.

The awkward argument began when the duo were seated on a red sofa by sports reporter Mike Bushell, and the conversation quickly turned to Team GB’s performance at the Winter Olympics in Beijing before the match. men’s billiards semi-final with the United States.

“Team GB has a huge chance to secure the medal…” Mike began, prompting Naga to interrupt, reminding him that he’d said it before about the team’s medal chances.

Mike explained: “I know, it’s been fair a few times, but that’s because they have a semi-final against the US at lunchtime today.

“Now the British have only lost one of their nine games, and yes, that’s against the United States,” he continued, as host Jon jokingly groaned: “Oh Mike, Mike!”

“But there is still hope!” Mike emphasized.

The trio were discussing the Winter Olympics when the controversy broke out

“They’re in better shape than the Round robin because they’re top of the table, balanced, in shape and motivated. Motivation is everything in sports!” he added.

But co-host Naga was unimpressed, and she started complaining to Mike about his continued optimism about Team GB.

“Your story about the Winter Olympics is amazing – because in the early days, ‘Naga – so early! You know, last time we started late, we did a great job. It’s too early Naga, hold on to your horse – don’t be too hasty,” she said.

Jon blocked Naga’s criticism when she started to interrupt Mike

“And then I thought last week was, ‘Wow, there’s hope!’ And what is today? ” she said, seemingly mocking Mike for his positive attitude.

“We’re gearing up now for an epic finale,” he replied, as Naga sarcastically quoted him as she shot back: “Got up, there’s hope! “It’s not that we don’t want them to excel…”

But Mike insisted that if Team GB beat the US this afternoon, it was all for play and they could finally end their medal drought.

Naga and Jon have co-hosted the breakfast show since 2010

“Get into that final and you’re guaranteed gold or silver – it can be captured now! Forfeited! ‘ Mike exclaimed.

But when Naga asked if Mike would return tomorrow, Jon shut down his co-host, as the awkward exchange about the Winter Olympics ended.

“Oh no, Mike – don’t! No, no, no, Mike – positivity and enthusiasm are what we need! “
