The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office has released all files related to the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust.
The files contain all the evidence in the case, including detective camera footage, incident reports, crime scene photos and witness interviews gathered during the investigation.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said various components of the investigation were “pending,” including the FBI’s firearms and ballistics forensics and analysis of actor Alec Baldwin’s phone records.
It comes after a report on the incident revealed that the film’s production company “knew that firearm safety procedures were not followed on set” and “demonstrated simple indifference to staff safety”.
After a six-month investigation by the state environmental agency, Rust Movie Productions was fined $136,793, the maximum amount allowed under New Mexico state law.
“Today the sheriff’s office is releasing all files related to our ongoing investigation,” Mr. Mendoza said Monday.
“The files all relate to the rust Film Set Investigations and includes deputy and detective lapel/dashcam footage, incident reports, crime scene photos, investigation reports, witness interviews, set videos and staff photos collected in the course of this investigation.
He added: “Various components of the investigation are pending, including FBI firearms and ballistics forensics, as well as DNA and latent fingerprint analyses, the Office of the New Mexico Medical Examiner’s findings report and analysis of Mr. Alec Baldwin’s telephone records obtained by extracted by Suffolk County Sheriff’s Investigators.”
Ms Hutchins was killed on the set of the western film in October last year after a prop gun Baldwin was holding was fired.
Director Joel Souza was also injured while filming at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe.

Baldwin’s attorneys say the previously released report “exculpates” the actor because it shows he “did not have authority over the matters that were the subject of the office’s violation determinations.”
“We are confident that those identified in the report will be held accountable for this tragedy,” the statement said.
The Hollywood actor continues to fight a number of court cases stemming from the incident.
Cases are brought by script director Mamie Mitchell, lighting director Serge Svetnoy and Ms Hutchins’ family.
