The Sky Sports presenter asks Irish star Chloe Mustaki if players need “education” after the ‘Up the Ra’ chant

Sky Sports News presenter Rob Wotton has grilled Irish soccer star Chloe Mustaki on whether “education is needed” after video surfaced of Ireland’s players singing a chant with the lyrics “up the RA ‘ sang.

Reland head coach Vera Pauw and the FAI have issued apologies after a video was released of players singing the Wolfe Tones song ‘Celtic Symphony’ in the dressing room.

But during an awkward interview with Sky Sports News, Mustaki was repeatedly pressed on the subject by Wotton.

“We are all really sorry here in Dublin, obviously a massive miscalculation on our part. ‘We really apologize for that,’ Mustaki said.

“Obviously there is a lot going on in the dressing room at such a big moment, lots of different songs being played right, left and centre.

“We’re incredibly embarrassed at this moment, we didn’t want to hurt ourselves on our part, so we really apologize for that.”

Wotton then asked Mustaki if she and the Irish team needed any enlightenment on any issues surrounding the singing and she replied: “I don’t really think so, I think we need to learn to get better and do better in those moments.

“We all grew up knowing a lot about Irish history so we have to do better and we recognize that.”

The FAI has apologized for the incident, with boss Pauw making the following comments: “We offer our heartfelt apologies to anyone who felt offended by the content of the post-match celebrations, having just qualified for the World Cup.

“We will discuss this with the players and remind them of their responsibilities in this regard. I spoke to the players this morning and we are collectively sorry for any injuries caused, there can be no apologies for that.” The Sky Sports presenter asks Irish star Chloe Mustaki if players need “education” after the ‘Up the Ra’ chant
