Jane Danson is not the only famous face in her family – as her husband is also a soap star.
The Opening the street Favorite first appeared on cobbles in 1997 as part of the tumultuous Battersby family, who were immediately dubbed ‘Neighbors from Hell’.
After leaving ITV in 2000, Jane played the first lesbian cop in The Bill’s history before returning as Leanne in 2004.
While Jane is certainly a soap legend, her husband Robert Beck has actually appeared in greater numbers of them.
The pair met at the 1999 British Soap Awards when Robert, who first rose to fame as Peter Harrison in Brookside, was playing Gavin Ferris in Emmerdale.
Rob previously revealed, “We met at the first Soap Awards in 1999. I was in Emmerdale at the time. Jane came in and introduced herself.”
What he didn’t know at the time was that Jane had actually had a crush on him since the age of 15.

“I’m not the most confident person in the world but I’ve had a crush on Rob since I was 15, so I thought, I have to talk to him, it’s fate,” she said.
Peter, who went on to appear in Corrie, Waterloo Road and with a number of different characters in Doctors, began dating Jane quickly after their first meeting.
The couple married at the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire in 2005 – and their relationship has never been rocky.
“Rob is absolutely my best friend in the world. We’ve only had about two rows in twenty years,” revealed Jane.
“I’m not saying we don’t put stress on each other sometimes but we are a strong team and we always allow each other to be individuals.”
The couple are proud parents to their two sons, Harry, 15, and Sam, 11, who visited the set of Corrie and even started to think Ken Barlow actor Bill Roache was him. their grandfather.
Due to Jane’s hectic schedule on Corrie, Robert decided to take a break from his acting career to take care of the kids while they were young.

“He used to tour and sing a lot but it wasn’t ideal with two young children and I still do that sometimes.
“So for the past two years, he’s been keen to work, but he’s put his career on the beaten track.

The couple were trying for a third child but Jane suffered a severe miscarriage, something she bravely spoke out about in 2016.
Heartbreakingly, that’s where her character Leanne goes through pregnancy plot.
“I feel fine saying it, but actually I lost a baby a few years ago,” she said in 2016. “So, [Leanne’s pregnancy] makes me quite sad.
“I was asked over and over again the inevitable questions, ‘Will you have more children?’ and I just feel like now is the right time to say it’s close to my heart. But it’s Leanne going through it, not me.”
Jane has the support of her family and co-stars and feels “one of the lucky ones”.
“It’s fine because I’ve never talked about it, but I just feel that now is a good time to say it’s what Leanne has always wanted and I know the feeling but I’m so lucky,” she continued. customary.
“I’ve got two beautiful kids so it’s been a bit of a challenge, but at the same time I know I’m lucky.”

Although they both appear in competing soaps, Jane confirms that there aren’t too many “rivals” in their homes.
“He’s been in the soap world for a while, so there’s always a little bit of banter and we’ll get to know each other well,” she said.
“We met both of us working on soaps so there was a lot of understanding there. He was very, very pleased so his fingers crossed.”
As well as their two sons, Jane and Robert are also parents to an adorable fur baby.
In 2019, the couple visited Dogs Trust Manchester and adopted a two-year-old Labrador Millie.
Jane said: “From the moment we met her, we knew she would be the perfect person for us and she has settled down brilliantly. She has never been happier to play with. balls, at least two, she loves running in the water in the park and she has the best cuddles for the whole family.”
Another person Jane is incredibly close to is her on-screen sister, Georgia Taylor, who returned as Toyah Battersby in 2016 after 13 years away from Weatherfield.
Mark, Georgia’s husband, was in New York when she received a call from her agent to discuss returning to Corrie, so she immediately called Jane for her advice. that.
“Ever since we started together as Toyah and Leanne, we’ve been best friends, so when I got that call I texted Jane right away,” says Georgia.
