On their return to the Premier League, newly promoted Fulham shared an unexpected draw with Liverpool, while Brighton celebrated their first win at Old Trafford against Manchester United as Erik ten Hag lost his first competitive game in charge.

At the Commonwealth Games, England’s cricketers missed out on a medal when they lost to New Zealand in the bronze match, but England’s ice hockey team won gold.

There was an all-English podium on the men’s three-metre springboard as Dan Goodfellow took gold for England, while Jordan Houlden took silver and Jack Laugher took bronze on Saturday night.
