The Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel will only appear in the new generation, according to the report

A new claim from VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb says the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Coming to next generation consoles in 2023.

Over at Grubb’s Grubbsnax, the reporter shared the latest he’s heard on this sequel that we’ve known about for a while. “Star Wars Jedi 2 will only be new-gen where it is PS5, Xbox Series X and Sand then of course personal computer‘ said Grubb (transcribed by VGC). “One of the reasons they’ll be able to do that is because it won’t come out until 2023. Now this game will definitely not come out before 2023.”

Grubb also spoke about how focusing only on the new generation, rather than including the last generation, “has some benefits” because “they don’t have to worry about trying to straddle those generation lines.”

“It makes it easier to just distance yourself from those millions of PS4s and Xbox Ones out there in the world when you’re in 2023 and you’ll have several months to make it very easy to get an Xbox Series X, probably.” every now and then a few months before that when it’s actually okay to get a PS5,” Grubb continued. “And at the same time, you can use it and do something that feels new.”

When it was confirmed in January that a new Star Wars Jedi game was in the works, EA also announced that respawn entertainment is working on a strategy game and a first-person shooter.

Fallen Order director Stig Asmussen is once again taking the reins of the next Star Wars Jedi game. And Peter Hirschmann, who produced the original as Executive Producer Star Wars Battlefront games, takes the helm of the shooter.

A new studio led by Greg Foertsch, who previously worked at Greg Foertsch XCOM developer firaxiswill take over and collaborate with the Star Wars strategy game bit reactor, where Foertsch is CEO. Respawn handles the producing side while Bit Reactor handles the development. The Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel will only appear in the new generation, according to the report
