Swansea Arena will host its first live music show of the weekend, featuring British rock duo Royal Blood.

His band will take to the stage of the brand new 3,500-seat venue on Saturday.

Up to 200 live performances each year will take place at the gilded stadium, drawing millions more visitors to the city over the next decade.

To celebrate the grand opening, world-renowned actors and musicians such as Michael Sheen and Cerys Matthews participated in the visual arts project From Swansea, With Love.

Welcoming concertgoers will now be the words of the Good Omens star, former Catatonia lead singer, and others such as Nine Perfect Strangers actor Luke Evans, BBC presenter Huw Stephens, Kingsman actor Keith Allen and singer-songwriter Rachel K Collier.

Rock duo Royal Blood will make headlines at the new Swansea Arena.

The star-contributed phrases will appear as illustrations and animations on posters and digital displays throughout the city, with Sheen and Matthews sayings transformed into painted murals hand.

Sheen’s reading says: “When the sun rises from the sea, Abertawe will sing too.”

Joe Bayliss, from Swansea Arena, said: “The arena is an important piece of the puzzle missing in the South Wales cultural scene to date, and I have no doubt it will help Swansea reach its potential as a point. to culture.

“It is an exciting time for the city and the region, and the arena is just the first part of it. In terms of art, we also have the redevelopment of the Albert Hall and the Princess Theatre.”

He added: “The proof will be in the pudding though, and I think we’ve got it with a great squad for 2022.

“We’ve been on more big shows and me and the team are so excited, we can’t wait to share the news with everyone.”

The arena is operated by the Ambassador Theater Group (ATG), located in the heart of the city’s new Copr Bay district, one of the largest urban regeneration projects underway in Europe with an investment of more than 1 billion pounds.

It includes a popular public bridge, a one-acre coastal park, along with a new hotel, independent apartments and restaurants.

Around 467 direct and indirect full-time jobs in Swansea are expected to be created from this arena.

Upcoming gigs include comedians Alan Carr, Katherine Ryan, Kevin Bridges, Rhod Gilbert, Rob Beckett, and Rob Brydon.

Performances by Jersey Boys, Jurassic Live, Alice Cooper and The Cult, Diversity, Johannes Radebe, Oti Mabuse, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Will Young are also planned.
