THE Teacher fans were reeling tonight after a major plot twist around who set up Jenna Garvey.
The disgraced teacher is currently on a mission to clear her name after a fight with her student Kyle, 15.
Viewers initially thought her colleagues Jack and Nina had set her up and even suspected Jack of being Kyle’s in-law, after possibly starting a secret affair with the teenager.
But at the end of episode three, a new character appeared.
Jenna really doesn’t remember if she committed the crime because she was drunk when it was supposed to happen.
But something Kyle said to her led her to believe she was set up and she went looking for evidence.
In an unexpected turn of events, her friend Pauline from work seems to have joined, as she knows a man, who has not been named but played by former Coronation Street star Ian Puleston-Davies, in Jenna’s past, played.
Fans quickly switched to the new theory on Twitter.
One fan said: “So Pauline’s husband/who’s Kyle’s dad, right? And Jenna got him fired on June 4, 2005 and now he’s ruining her life Is Pauline in there? Suspicious but unsure? Would absolutely go all out and say she’s got it coming?!”
One second added: “Pauline’s husband?!?! Damn…”
A third tweeted: “Pauline’s husband!! What the hell is this!!”
Viewers were also shocked to see Corrie’s star Ian on screen.
He played Owen Armstrong – Izzy and Katy’s dad – appeared on ITV channel since 2010 but was last seen on screen in 2015.
The timing was also a surprise as ITV viewers predicted that Ian would reprise the role of Owen in the custody battle for his grandson, as Chesney and stepmother Gemma struggle financially.
