The top five indie gems were announced at The Game Awards

At THE Game Awards, all well-known games of this year will be celebrated on the main stage.

However, more time than the awards themselves will be given to the trailers for upcoming games.

While big-name studios have had plenty of time to showcase their projects, it’s the new games from independent studios that got us most excited.

Here are the five indie projects we were most looking forward to at The Game Awards 2022.

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania

Dead Cells was one of the most popular games of 2017 and a new DLC was announced during The Game Awards.

The DLC is a crossover between Konami’s popular Castlevania franchise and will feature music from the series as well as fan-favorite characters.

No full release date has been given for the DLC, but we do know that it will be out early next year.

hades 2

While indie darling is often a phrase thrown around, Hades really captured the hearts and minds of mainstream audiences.

This is the first time SuperMassive Games is making a sequel, and this story features new gods, a new story, and a new protagonist.

Early access will begin in 2023 to allow players to provide feedback and help shape the game as it evolves.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon

Hidden deep within Bayonetta 3 is a book that required three keys to open.

Once opened, you’ve played a chapter of the book that has nothing to do with Bayonetta, and at the end Jeanne tells you to continue the story.

No matter how far you look in Bayo 3, the rest of the book is nowhere to be found.

That’s because it’s a standalone game that tells the backstory of the Umbra Witch, which will be released on March 17th, 2023.

From the creator of popular indie games like Towerfall Ascension and Celeste comes a new game Earthblade.

We got our first look at TGA, including its overall look as a pixel-art style 2D platformer with some combat.

Not much was shown, but given the caliber of the team we’re excited to see more.

Death Stranding 2

With a trailer just as confusing as the trailer for the original Death Stranding, the sequel was announced at The Game Awards.

Norman Reedus was also featured in the trailer and appears to be returning for the sequel.

Director Hideo Kojima has teased and hyped this announcement for the past few months.

He hopes fans will analyze the announcement trailer and learn more details about the upcoming game.
