Today is the first of three Fridays the 13th we have to get through in 2015, with two more in March and November.
But don’t worry if you weren’t sure how much to panic, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most unfortunate things that can happen on Friday the 13th:
Friggartriskaidekaphobia
Also known as paraskevidekatriaphobia, friggatriskaidekaphobia is the morbid fear of Friday the 13th.
Those unfortunate enough to suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia are in for a particularly nasty day every Friday the 13th, but they could also find solace in an American center trying to stop friggatriskaidekaphobia (in a fairly light-hearted way, it seems ) to heal with activities like walking under ladders and breaking mirrors.

Although it sounds implausible, according to the Daily Mail, this profusion of thirteens really occurred when a 13-year-old boy was struck by lightning at the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival in August 2010. Fortunately, he suffered only minor burns from the incident.

Granted, that hasn’t happened yet, but in September 2029 we could have our closest encounter with a potentially dangerous and hazardous asteroid in modern times.
