Today is the first of three Fridays the 13th we have to get through in 2015, with two more in March and November.
But don’t worry if you weren’t sure how much to panic, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most unfortunate things that can happen on Friday the 13th:
Also known as paraskevidekatriaphobia, friggatriskaidekaphobia is the morbid fear of Friday the 13th.
Those unfortunate enough to suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia are in for a particularly nasty day every Friday the 13th, but they could also find solace in an American center trying to stop friggatriskaidekaphobia (in a fairly light-hearted way, it seems ) to heal with activities like walking under ladders and breaking mirrors.
A 13-year-old boy in Suffolk was struck by lightning at 1:13 p.m
Although it sounds implausible, according to the Daily Mail, this profusion of thirteens really occurred when a 13-year-old boy was struck by lightning at the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival in August 2010. Fortunately, he suffered only minor burns from the incident.
The Friday the 13th computer virus struck
On January 13, 1989, the virus hit PCs in the UK, deleting program files and slowing down computers.
Buckingham Palace was hit by five German bombs

On September 13, 1940, as part of Hitler’s “Blitz” campaign, Buckingham Palace was hit by five bombs, destroying the palace chapel.

On 13 March 2009 the £13.5million SAW ride had its inaugural premiere at Thorpe Park, only to be shut down in front of a host of celebrities due to a computer programming error.
A general increase in hospital admissions
In a 1993 article entitled “Is Friday the 13th Bad for Your Health?” researchers analyzed traffic patterns and hospital admissions on multiple Fridays the 13th compared to the previous Friday. They found that even though fewer people drive on Friday the 13th, hospital admissions for traffic accidents can increase by as much as 52 percent.
We may have a close encounter with an asteroid on Friday, September 13, 2029
Granted, that hasn’t happened yet, but in September 2029 we could have our closest encounter with a potentially dangerous and hazardous asteroid in modern times.
