A university spokesman said: “Southern Gas Networks continues to conduct urgent investigations into the gas network on our Falmer campus.
“At your request, all academic buildings will remain closed. Ringmer House, Paddock Fields and Great Wilkins residence halls remain open and operational.
“The UB1 bus continues to stop in Falmer, access to Falmer train station is unaffected and Brighton and Hove buses have now resumed services to the Falmer campus.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide another update later this afternoon.”
Brighton and Hove Buses route 25 was unable to serve any stops on campus in the morning.
