Whoopi Goldberg is facing criticism from the Anti-Defamation League, the Holocaust Museum of America, and other Jewish institutions for her comments on the latest episode of “See“In which she says the Holocaust” is not about race”.
Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, responded to “The View” comments on Twitter, calling her comments “dangerous”.
“The Holocaust is about the systematic extermination of the Jews by Nazi Germany – who they saw as an inferior race,” Greenblatt wrote. “They dehumanized and used racist propaganda to justify the slaughter of 6 million Jews. Holocaust distortion is very dangerous”.

Goldberg’s comments came during a program discussion regarding the Tennessee school board’s ban on “Maus,” a non-fiction graphic novel about the experiences of animator father Art Spiegelman survived the Holocaust.
“Let’s be honest about it because [the] The Holocaust is not about race,” Goldberg said in Monday’s episode. “It’s not about race. It’s about the inhumanity of man to man… These are two groups of white people. When you turn it into a race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it to know what it is. Its [about] how people treat each other. It doesn’t matter whether you’re black or white, Jew – it’s each other’.
Goldberg’s comments prompted immediate, far-reaching criticism from Jewish organizations, including the American Holocaust Museum and StopAntisemitism.org.
“Six million of us were suffocated, starved, and massacred because we were perceived by the Nazis as an inferior race,” StopAntisemitism.org Written on Twitter. “How dare you minimize our trauma and suffering!”
Although the Holocaust Museum does not cite Goldberg by name, the organization shared a statement that “racism was central to Nazi ideology” on Monday afternoon.
Goldberg’s comments have also drawn criticism from Jewish figures in the entertainment industry. Michael Rapaport shared a video about himself, in which he calls the co-host “The View”.
“You need to apologize. You need to explain for yourself,” declared Rapaport.
