The Wanted star Tom Parker has died aged 33 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour

The Wanted star Tom Parker has died at the age of 33 after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

The singer, originally from Bolton, died surrounded by his family and bandmates on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the boy band.

He announced in October 2020 that he had been diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma and had started radiation and chemotherapy.

Despite his diagnosis, he had been appearing on stage with his bandmates as part of their much-delayed reunion tour for the past few weeks.

A statement on The Wanted’s Instagram page read: “Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and the entire Wanted family are devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away peacefully this lunchtime surrounded by his Family and his band passed away is friends.

“Tom was a great husband to Kelsey and father to Aurelia and Bodhi.

“He was our brother, words cannot express the loss and sadness we feel. Always and forever in our hearts.”

His widow, Kelsey Parker, formerly of Hardwick, said his family’s hearts were broken by his death.

She wrote on Instagram: “It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with his entire family by his side.

“Our hearts are broken, Tom was the center of our world and we cannot imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.

“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.

“Thanks to everyone who supported him throughout, he fought until the end. I am forever proud of you.”

Siva Kaneswaran addressed his late bandmate directly in a post on Instagram.

He wrote: “Hey Tom, hope you’re having a great time up there.

“I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to witness your true courage. It’s been a joy of a lifetime, Tommy boy.

“Thank you for letting us see how you light up the world. See you soon and see you later. I love you brother x”

He has been married to Hardwick since 2018 and they welcomed their son Bodhi in October last year.

Their daughter Aurelia Rose was born in 2019.

During an appearance on This Morning, Parker joked that they were hoping for another.

In January 2021, he announced in an Instagram post that the tumor’s size had been “significantly reduced” and that it was “responding well to treatment.”

Parker performed alongside his bandmates at a Stand Up To Cancer in December, marking their first time performing together since 2014.

The group, best known for their hits Glad You Came, Chasing The Sun and All Time Low, also recently released a greatest hits album titled Most Wanted – The Greatest Hits .

Parker used his platform to advocate for better treatments for brain trauma patients.

He told a cross-party parliamentary group on brain tumors in December: “I’m stunned that they can find a cure for Covid within a year, but they haven’t found better treatments let alone a cure for brain tumors in decades.

“Why does it take so long to complete clinical trials?”
