A widow gave birth to her late husband’s baby 14 months after his death using frozen embryos – and revealed she is now trying to have a second child.

Sarah Shellenberger, 41, lost her husband Scott, 41, to a heart attack in February 2020.

Before his sudden death, Sarah and Scott were struggling to conceive and had undergone two rounds of IVF – creating two viable embryos that were frozen.

Sarah, a teacher from Oklahoma, USA, was able to conceive with son Hayes using one of the embryos born in May 2021.

Now she’s hoping to give him a sibling with the second and final embryo, conceived just seven days before Scott’s death on Valentine’s Day 2020.

“I’ve dreamed of being a mom my whole life and I can’t imagine not continuing our journey,” says Sarah, who shares her journey on Instagram ( @TheWesternMomma ) with her 10,000 followers, said NeedToKnow.online.

“My husband and I were struggling to get pregnant and wanted a family more than anything.

“I hope and pray this transfer is successful and brings our second miracle baby into our family.

“In our eyes, our embryos are our children and it is only right to do everything we can to bring our second baby home.

“It would mean the world to give Hayes a sibling. I have a brother and I know what a special relationship that can be. I want that for Hayes as much, if not more, than I want it for myself.”

Sarah has the embryo transfer on June 23rd and will know two weeks later if it was successful.

She added: “It’s very emotional but also exciting. I’m so grateful to have the hope of a second live piece of my husband on the horizon and to know he’s with me as Hayes and I move on.

“I know Scott wants me to do that and I have every faith that from heaven he is doing whatever it takes to make that happen.”
