The Witcher 3 next-gen development shifts to in-house, postponed pending ‘further announcement’

CD Projekt Red has announced a delay for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

According to the company, it decided to let its in-house development team do the remaining work. As a result, the “scope of work to be done” is currently being assessed, so the Q2 release will be postponed until further notice.

Last year, the company said the game was primarily being developed by its outside team, which is Saber Interactive. This is the company it had previously worked with on Switch and also with updates in the past.

Announced during WitcherCon, The Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be released as a Complete Edition and will include some new elements inspired by the Netflix series The Witcher.

While full information on the DLC will be provided at a later date, one of the DLCs appears to be inspired by the gear Henry Cavill wears on the Netflix show.

Those who own the game on PS4 and Xbox One can download the upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions for free. And the additional content will also be made available for all platforms.
