The Witcher 3 next-gen update will be free for PS5, PC and Xbox series players

CD Projekt Red has finally revealed the release date for the forthcoming release of The Witcher 3 for the latest consoles.

Originally released in 2015, The Witcher 3 is widely considered one of the best games of all time.

The upcoming update from CD Projekt will bring this timeless classic including all DLCs to modern hardware.

It will also include the two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

These expansions almost double the already massive size of the game.

The game, titled The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, will be released digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC December 14th.

It will be available for purchase. However, if you previously owned the game on a previous generation console, the update is free.

That means if you owned the PS4 version, you don’t have to pay for the PS5 upgrade. The same applies to the Xbox One.

PC gamers get this benefit too. So if you already own The Witcher 3 on PC, you don’t need to buy it again.

There will also be updates to the game for those who own the older console versions or the Nintendo Switch version.

That means if you don’t have the latest hardware, you still get some benefits.

The update includes numerous additions and improvements, as well as additional Netflix Witcher-style content.

A physical version of the Complete Edition is also planned for release, but a date for that has not yet been set.

All we know for now is that the physical release will come some time after the digital.

CD Projekt is currently working on a number of games for the series.

A remake of the first Witcher game, which only had a PC version, is currently in early development.

The fourth game in the series has also been announced, but is said to have a new protagonist instead of Geralt.

It is most likely assumed that this is Ciri, a fan-favorite character.
