Delia Smith said “humanity together can do anything”, urging a solution to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The 80-year-old TV chef said she “can’t believe” that her new book, which encourages people to think about human existence, was published while the war was raging in Ukraine. .
Speaking on The One Show about You Matter: The Human Solution, Smith said: “Like the title says, I really want people to know they matter and that everyone is an individual.
“But, humans are also such an amazing wonder that sometimes I think we’ve missed it – how wonderful we are, especially when we are united.
“And now we only see glimpses of that; We’re going through this terrible war but we’re seeing what happens when everyone joins. There’s a lot of power there.
“What I mean to the people in the book is, ‘Get away from the noise, sit down, and think about the wonder and beauty of human life, your own life but also the life we live in. we share together.’
“Why should we live in a chaotic world when we can easily deal with it?
“Humans together can do anything.”
Smith also said she can teach people how to make pancakes and hopes she can teach people to “find out what they can do, underneath themselves”.
