The Worthing Memory Café receives support from the McCarthy Stone Foundation

A charity has donated hundreds of pounds to a memory cafe that supports people with dementia.

The McCarthy Stone Foundation has awarded a £500 grant to Guild Care’s Memory Café in Worthing to support people with memory loss or dementia and their carers.

Guild Care’s Memory Café provides a supportive place to meet and connect with others who share similar experiences.

The donation will benefit the cafe’s live musical entertainment, which encourages everyone to have fun by singing and reminiscing together.

The free event is open to people from the Worthing community and takes place every two weeks at the Bradbury Wellbeing Center to allow people with dementia and their carers to attend together.

Alison Laurie, Trustee and Big Donor Fundraiser at Guild Care, said: “Our Memory Café provides a vital support network for people living with memory loss and dementia in the Worthing area, helping to reduce isolation and loneliness and nurturing friendships.

“The McCarthy Stone Foundation donation will help fund our live musical entertainment, which those who regularly attend greatly enjoy, so I want to say a big thank you to the team.”

The McCarthy Stone Foundation is the independent, registered charity of British developer and senior housing manager McCarthy Stone, who are behind the forthcoming development in Goring on Goring Street.

It aims to build partnerships with charities and organizations that support the well-being of older people, the educational needs of young people, and community renewal by providing financial grants, volunteers, and other resources.

Graeme Marsh, Foundation Manager of the McCarthy Stone Foundation said: “The Guild Care Memory Café is an integral part of the Worthing community.

“Providing a safe and welcoming space is absolutely critical to providing much-needed support to people living with dementia or memory loss and their carers. So we are delighted to be able to support the brilliant efforts of the charity.” The Worthing Memory Café receives support from the McCarthy Stone Foundation
